| Date and Arrival |
The 1999 Challenge will be run over the period Wednesday May 5 to Friday May 7
Registration, equipment and canoe checks and a team briefing will be held on South Uist on Tuesday May 4
The latest time for teams to arrive in order to complete the necessary formalities will be first thing on Tuesday morning (i.e. effectively Monday night), but most teams have in the past found a day or twos acclimatisation/reconnaissance to be useful (if not absolutely necessary!)

| Entry and Race Timetable |
Teams judged to have suitable experience will be accepted on a first-come basis as entries are received, and will be notified accordingly.
Teams not felt to have appropriate experience will be similarly notified
In the event that more than 35 entries are received, up to 10 teams over and above the 35 initially accepted will be put on a waiting list, subject to their consent. Teams may retire from the waiting list at any time, but once they have been accepted onto the main entry list the cancellation provisions of the event will apply
The timetable to the race will be as follows:
| Dispatch of Route and Full Rules | Early/Mid-March |
| Receipt of Route Plans etc | 15 April 1999 |
| Fees |
| Entry fees must accompany the entry form and are as follows: | |
| Private Teams: £300.00 + VAT (£352.50) | |
| Corporate Teams: £500.00 + VAT (£587.50) | |
| Corporate Teams are defined as PLCs or their subsidiaries, or Limited Companies with more than 50 employees, wishing to use their names as or in the team name | |
| Individuals: Free | |
The above fees assume that we can communicate with you by e-mail. If for some reason you cannot give us an e-mail address, then a premium of £50 + VAT (£58.75) must be added.
The entry fee must accompany the application form, but will be refunded, less a nominal administration fee of £20, in the event that an application is not accepted
Mastercard and Visa credit cards can be accepted
| Cancellations of entries by those initially accepted will be charged as follows: | |
| Up to 8 weeks prior to the event: | 25% of fee |
| Up to 4 weeks prior to the event | 50% of fee |
| Less than 4 weeks prior to the event: | Full fee |
Please note that the organisers cannot accept responsibility for unforseen circumstances that might affect entrants, and teams should therefore take out insurance to protect their fee if they think this is necessary.
| Warranties and Changes |
Teams entering the event will be required to warrant that they understand the risks involved and that they have arranged insurance as necessary against both personal injury and damage to property, including the property of others
The organisers reserve the right to turn down any application without assigning a reason. The organisers also reserve the right to cancel or amend the event, in particular in the event of bad weather. In the event of a last minute cancellation due to events beyond the organisers control, fees will not be returnable in full, although some proportion may be payable depending on expenses incurred. Complete cancellation is not, however, considered a remotely likely circumstance.
